Hi, LUVs! Today we’re spotlighting Emily Snow, author of the Devoured series, Tidal, and Savor You.
Sienna Jensen had no plans to return home when she graduated college last spring—after all, her dreams lie in California. But when she discovers her grandmother’s Nashville home has been foreclosed, and the new owner has started the eviction process, Sienna has no other choice but go back to Music City. And she comes face to face with the flawed, gorgeous man she never thought she’d see again. The man who now holds the deed to her grandma’s estate.
When millionaire rock star Lucas Wolfe finds the outspoken redhead glaring at him from across a courtroom, he’s both infuriated and intrigued. He still can’t get the night Sienna almost spent with him out of his mind, and the chemistry between them is as undeniable as it was two years ago. He craves Sienna more than ever. And just like everything Lucas hungers for, he’s determined to have her.
Now, Lucas will do whatever it takes to lure Sienna into his bed, even if that means making a deal with her: ten days with him, playing by his rules, and he’ll hand over the deed to her grandmother’s home. Though she agrees to the arrangement, Sienna is conflicted. Because of her duty to her family. Because of promises she’s made to herself and a past that still haunts her. And as Lucas’s game of seduction continues, and Sienna is introduced to his dark, erotic world and even darker background, she realizes that at any moment, she could be devoured.
Mini Review:Filled with electrifying tension, breath-hitching sexiness, and a dose of all-around mysteriousness, Devoured was just the exciting and slightly angsty read I needed.
Responsible, dedicated, and pushover Sienna Jensen was badly burned by magnetic rockstar Lucas Wolfe when he kicked her out of his bed because she wouldn’t let him cuff her. Two years later, she comes face to face with him in a courtroom when her grandmother’s home has been foreclosed, and Lucas is the buyer. She’s burning in rage—and in pain and desire. He wants her like never before. In order to secure the deed to her childhood home, Sienna must to meet his demands for ten days. It’s harder to avoid the pull between them, yet scarier than ever. Along with their painful past is Lucas’s that isn’t so distant and threatens to destroy them both.
Although I wish Sienna and Lucas’s first encounter was included or at least delved into more in this book so I could experience the journey of the characters and their triumph, I was surprised by the plot and overall development. Along with two people jonesing for each other, each character had a personal or external conflict that had nothing to do with each other. Where Sienna is passive, Lucas is all aggressive, but they’re polar opposites that complement each other. The secondary characters’ inner conflicts were hinted at, as well. Both aspects I really appreciated and added depth, making everyone distinctive.
The chemistry between Lucas and Sienna, as well as the dynamics between all characters, were palpable, with the UST and tension between everyone fraying my nerves and driving me insane. Lucas’s dirty mouth and delicious promises had meeager. I wouldn’t say this is BDSM or even mild BDSM—Lucas is simply domineering—but the sex, while a occurring sooner and more abruptly than I anticipated, was rockin’ hot. And even though there’s more to the story that needs to be revealed, the ending was just right. A resolution within a perfect mess, where its push and pull between obviously flawed characters with lives that might seem ideal but aren’t and they find a middle ground.
